This book review is on the first book from The Gideon Trilogy by Linda Buckley – Archer. The title of this book is The Time Travelers. This book was published in 2006. The publishers are Simon & Schuster, and the ISBN of the book is 1. 978-1-4169-1655-0. There are many editions of this series, I read the American version. This book was originally named Gideon the Cutpurse ( another word for thief )
This series is about 2 21st century children getting lost in 1763 and finding a way to get back. Book i is about Kate Dyer and Peter Schock getting stranded in 1763 with their only way back the anti-gravity machine was gone. They go through a series of adventures trying to find the machine in order to get home, they make friends but one of them they hope will never let go, Gideon Seymour. The first book is an adventurous and fun-filled journey of 2 kids who yearn to go home. The best part is its cliffhanger at the very end. Along the way we are introduced to new characters, one being The Tar man, who is an 18th-century villain, who also supposedly stole the anti-gravity machine. This book has many perspectives which means it explored many different areas that is my favourite thing about this book.As most part of this book is set in 1763, we see a lot of the 18th century which gives us an idea of what life was like and I think that is a wonderful way of showing it. This books main genre is Sci-Fi meaning its scientific fiction and I think that adding science to books and genres we look is a great idea because we learn along the way and we don’t even realize it. I would highly recommend this book especially to people who find fantasy and fiction intriguing. This might be one of the best books I’ve read as it gives me a different perspective to look at even in the smallest of things.
Finally, I would like to tell you all that this book is worth reading.
